Paula Scher Typography Poster
My Design Process
Paula Scher is an American graphic designer known for her use of bright colors, off-kilter grids, and collage work. She paved the way for female designers by becoming the first female principal for Pentagram, a famous design studio.
I was assigned to make a typographic, informational poster for an event showcasing a design hero. I was assigned Paula and wanted to pay tribute to her bold color schemes by using the bright yellow she uses in one of her posters, The Public Theater poster. I also wanted to play with her use of grids by shifting my text. I didn’t go as far as she would by placing words upside down because I wanted this poster to be easy to read.
